Two Tips for Building Unique Outfits
Have you always loved dressing in one-of-a-kind clothing items that make you stand out from the rest of the crowd? If so, you are probably always looking for new places to shop. In addition, you are more than likely continuously tweaking your wardrobe. If that description fits you, from shopping at a vintage clothing store to scouting Saturday yard sales, here are some ideas that might help you to find new additions to your present wardrobe.
Shop at a Vintage Clothing Store
Does your town or city have great stores that sell vintage clothing items? If so, consider connecting with one of the individuals who works at the store on the days you usually visit there. For example, if you do your clothes shopping on Saturdays, find a sales person who usually works at the vintage stores on the weekends. Once you have determined who your go-to salesperson will be, consider asking him or her to call or text you when the store has great new arrivals. For example, if you love vintage band T-shirts, the salesperson might be very willing to call you to let you know that new band T-shirts have arrived at the store and are ready to be purchased.
When you select one item, consider buying another item that will complement it. For example, if you are lucky enough to buy a long lace tunic, think of buying a leather skirt to go with it. To add interest to the tunic and the skirt, think of buying a vest of a totally different fabric, but that will still complement the ensemble. One idea would be to buy a paisley=designed vest.
Shop at Community Yard Sales
Do you have time to go from house to house looking for weekend yard sales? If so, you might find excellent items that will add a unique look to your wardrobe items. For example, if you bought the tunic along with a leather skirt and the paisley vest, you might be lucky enough to find a macrame belt to wear with your new vintage clothes.
Maybe you recently bought a new vintage band T-shirt. Think of looking for jeans or slacks that will go with it. For instance, maybe you bought a vintage T-shirt that features The Beatles as the main design. If so, look for bell bottom jeans to wear with it. And, don't forget to buy jewelry items, too. At yard sales, you will more than likely find one-of-a-kind jewelry items that will add interest to your vintage outfits.
