Three Reasons to Change the Buttons on Your Suit
When many people think about having their suit altered, they imagine someone taking it in or letting it out so that the suit fits more stylishly or comfortably. These alterations are common, but there are several other changes that your local suit alteration service can provide for you. One of the simplest—and thus least expensive—alterations is to have the buttons changed. While it's true that you might not immediately think of changing the buttons on your suit, doing so may be smart for a number of reasons. Here are three times that you may want to think about changing the suit's buttons.
To Look More Modern
The material and cut of some suits can make them look fairly contemporary, even if they're several years old. One thing that can sometimes give away the age of the suit, however, is the buttons. If you're aware that the buttons are giving your suit a dated appearance—perhaps they're faux brass in color, and you feel as though this look is not modern enough to suit your tastes—you can find some buttons that you feel look better, and visit the suit alteration service to have the buttons changed.
To Have Quieter Sleeves
Some suits have multiple buttons on the sleeves; for example, there might be four or even five buttons at the edge of the sleeve. This isn't an issue in most cases, but you might find that the surplus of buttons makes noise. For example, if you wear a suit to work and have a glass-topped desk, the buttons may click every time that you rest your lower arm on the desk—and over the course of the day, this sound can get annoying. Changing the material of the buttons from something hard to something softer, or even reducing the number of buttons, can make for quieter sleeves.
To Be More Subtle
Some suits have buttons that really stand out, and you may have bought such a suit because you liked the overall look or feel of the suit, even if the buttons didn't really appeal to you. If you find that the buttons are too flashy and this is preventing you from wearing the suit as much as you'd like, something as simple as swapping the buttons may quickly make you compelled to wear the suit regularly. You'll have no trouble choosing a style of button that is more subtle in appearance.
